Upon the directives of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood participates in Abu Dhabi International Book Fair

Upon the directives of H. H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood (SCMC), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood participates in the activities of 25th edition of Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, which started today Thursday and will continue until May 13, 2015, held at Abu Dhabi National Expo Center.

H. E. Rym Al Falasy, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood, has stated that Abu Dhabi International Book Fair did establish its position on the international level until it has become a source for dialogue of different cultures. This has made the capital city, Abu Dhabi, an international destination and a beacon for culture and publishing as well.

Furthermore, H. E. Rym Al Falasy has added that such participation in the Book Fair has been the first one since the establishment of the council that is concerned with providing protection and safety for mothers and children and securing the children rights to survive and grow. This can be done by following up and assessing annual plans and implementing programs, studies, projects and forums for the purpose of achieving the aspired welfare and wellbeing of children in the UAE.

H. E. Rym AL Falasy  has also referred to Article (24) of Convention on the Rights of the Child, stating that children shall have the right to obtain a good level of healthcare, and get pure drinking water, healthy food, and clean and safe environment. At this Book Fair, the Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood offered “Maryam Healthy Plate”, which is a short story based on child rights stories series that the Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood seeks to develop in association with UNICEF Gulf Area Office. The objective of doing that is to introduce children to their rights and responsibilities and disseminate and uphold children rights across all categories of the community.

The Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood’s participation in the Book Fair includes several activities such as availability of a nutritionist to explain ingredients of healthy dish for children, face painting, drawing, coloring, painting, daily sessions for reading stories, games for reinforcing concentration and electronic games as well.
