The Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood launches “Al Ediya” initiative
Under the high patronage of H. H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood (SCMC), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), the Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood has launched “Al Ediya” initiative that is aimed at offering a wide variety of toys as a present or gift to children including a special category of children such as orphans, children of prisoners and poor families.
This campaign is one of the initiatives made by the Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood chaired by H. E. Rym Al Falasy, the Secretary General of the Council to offer the best for the deprived children in the UAE.
As a matter of fact, “Al Ediya” is an annual campaign that is organized during Eid festival celebrations across the UAE. It aims to give away toys to the poor children so that they can be happy and pleased, where such an initiative coincides with a precious occasion, which is Eid Al Fitr (End of Ramadan). As the tradition of this event goes, toys are placed in special boxes, which are then taken or sent to the needy children across the country.
H. E. Rym Al Falasy, the Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood has also stated that this initiative is based upon the Council’s concern with improving level of care and attention as well as follow-up given to motherhood and childhood. In addition, it seeks to provide the necessary support for all relevant learning, cultural, health, social, psychological and educational issues and achieve mother and child safety and security and evaluate development plans for their aspired wellbeing and welfare. Above all, it also attempts to promote studies and researches and spread comprehensive cultures for motherhood and childhood.
Furthermore, the Council also endeavors to develop policies and improve early childhood practices, exchange new experiences and knowledge on early childhood, and offer tools and mechanisms for upgrading childhood education and care quality under overall supervision of H. H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. To this effect, H. H. Sheikha Fatima gives full attention to all mother and child affairs as well as any schemes and initiatives that could sharpen women skills, and develop their creative abilities and increase their awareness. Above all, she also takes care of the entire childhood related issues.
